We (married couple with 10 year old daughter from Germany) have stayed for 3 nights at Chatrium Hotel. The hotel, its infrastructure and atmosphere make the stay a true Myanmar experience. Classic style but well maintained. Rooms are spacious and „public areas“ including the pool are lovely.
That much, you would expect from a 5 star hotel in other countries, but please do not forget, that the current situation (01/2026) is nothing but ordinary. The hotel ground is a „safe haven“ - a fact that is appreciated by the few remaining expats. And that must be quite difficult.
Let me come to the end by saying that the entire staff make all the difference. I have been to many countries and many hotels. But the staff of the Chatrium Hotel go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. They support guests with transport and outside restaurant bookings…so far so good 🙂 but as it was our daughters 10th birthday, they put in a lot of effort to make it a special experience.
All in all: if you come to Yangon, the Chatrium Hotel is an excellent option.

I recently stayed at Chatrium Hotel and overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always willing to assist with anything I needed. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with a beautiful view. The hotel facilities were excellent, especially the swimming pool and breakfast buffet, which offered a good variety of options.
