Reviews
Food was good, no complaints there. But the venue was way too small for the number of people they hosted.
What really ruined the experience was the security. They actually yelled at us to leave the venue while there was a long queue at the exit — all because they turned off the down escalators and kept the up ones running. How does that even make sense? It created a huge bottleneck and delayed everyone trying to get out.
Ridiculous and very poorly managed.
To the General Manager, Metropolis Southgate,
I am writing to express my gratitude for the beautiful venue hosting the recent wedding of Win & Linda. It was a pleasure to attend.
This correspondence serves to provide feedback regarding an observation concerning a Metropolis staff member named Tiana. While I personally did not experience any issues with her service, I was troubled by an incident involving her interaction with contract staff.
Specifically, I witnessed Ms. Tiana engaging in a highly unprofessional and elevated verbal exchange with a security officer (Guard 295, whose full name I do not recall).
In the hospitality sector, maintaining a calm and respectful demeanor toward all individuals, including colleagues and contractors, is paramount. Ms. Tiana's behavior, characterized by what appeared to be shouting, was completely unacceptable. I commend the security officer for demonstrating remarkable professionalism by ignoring the provocation and maintaining his composure, stating, "it's okay."
This kind of conduct towards staff should not be tolerated. The security officer's measured response is a testament to his professionalism, and Ms. Tiana should be appreciative that he did not escalate the situation further.
I trust that the management of both Metropolis Southgate and the security provider (Guardia) will thoroughly review this incident and address the staff member's conduct appropriately.
Our one complaint would be that they did not stick to one of our dietary requirements.
Overall, very satisfied with the service and would recommend this venue for your big events.
My experience with Metropolis started off a little rocky, as they were undergoing a restructure at the time. I was getting different information from various parts of the team, and due to a busy period, responses were a bit slower than expected. However, in the end, they came through and honoured everything they had promised. My only feedback would be around communication and clarity—there were a few instances where we were given conflicting information or told different things by different people.
We were fortunate to have Natasha as our Event Coordinator. She was fantastic, handling all our requests and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Despite the stress that comes with coordinating such a big event, Natasha was easy to work with and a pleasure to deal with. We really appreciated her efforts in bringing everything together.
But the real standout of the night was the team at Metropolis. They truly made the event seamless, and I can honestly say the night wouldn’t have been the same without their exceptional service. Honestly they pushed my review from 4 stars to 5 stars.
Alex, the Beverage Manager, was an absolute legend. He’s one of the nicest guys you’ll meet, and he and his team provided first-class service all night long. They were respectful and attentive to every guest, and their professionalism made a big impression.
Tess, the Bridal Attendant, was lovely and made sure that everything the bridal party needed was taken care of. There was a small hiccup on the day, but Tess went above and beyond to make sure it was sorted quickly. From the moment we arrived, she was there for us, providing exceptional service.
Lyn , the Venue Manager, also did an outstanding job on the night. She kept everything running smoothly, ensuring that everything went off without a hitch.
Overall, Metropolis provided a truly memorable experience, and while there were a few communication bumps early on, the service and attention to detail on the day more than made up for it. Highly recommend!
Update*
I downgraded to 4 stars due to the communication. I was contacted about a clean up bill for a different date.
