Rural Image Photography

Photographer Wendy Ellis specialises in rural weddings. So much so that you can almost feel, smell and touch the essence of the Australian landscape through her images.

Based in a small Wimmera farming community, Wendy is known for her candid, documentary style of photography, which is popular amongst bridal couples getting married in regional Victoria.

Wendy loves the challenge of documenting a wedding day and the many special fleeting and unplanned moments of happiness, laughter and love… when the awestruck flower girl sees the bride’s dress for the first time, or when Gran joyously throws confetti… she’ll capture it all. She also draws from the beauty of the environment; when the sun emerges from the clouds to bestow light on the couple, or a rustic shed as a funky backdrop.

With the more ‘planned’ photography on a wedding day, Wendy enjoys working with the bridal party to create an essay of fun and creative images that celebrate the bonds of their friendship. Her professional and diplomatic approach also means that if she sees the potential for a special photo throughout the day, she’ll subtly give direction without interrupting the natural flow of the celebrations.

When couples book Wendy as their photographer, she likes to spend time with them at a pre-wedding consult. This enables her obtain a true sense of the couple’s personality and find out exactly what they want from their wedding photography. The meeting also gives the couple an opportunity to share ideas with her; talk about locations and get a sense for her warm, friendly approach.
